FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
What’s the difference between an e bike and an electric bicycle?
Nothing - they’re the same. Whether you call it an e bicycle, electric bike, or ebike, it’s a pedal-powered ride with electric assist. We use all the terms to keep things simple, but at Synch, every electric bike we sell is designed with top performance and local support in mind.
Are your e bikes legal to ride in the UK?
All our 250w e bikes and electric bicycles meet UK regulations - pedal assist only, no throttle, and max 15.5mph motor speed. You don’t need a licence, tax, or insurance to ride quality electric bikes. Synch 250w e bikes are built with road-legal compliance and real-world usability baked in from the start.
The 750W ebikes are not legal on UK roads and are strictly for off road use on private property.
In the UK only eBikes that comply with EAPC regulations can be used on UK public roads without tax, insurance or registration. You can find out more about EAPC regulations here: Electric bikes: licensing, tax and insurance - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)
Can I ride my ebike in the wet?
Of course! Our Super Monkey bikes are designed to handle the worst of the British weather. All of the electronics are splash resistant to give you peace of mind when riding or commuting in the rain. It’s worth mentioning that we don’t recommend riding in salt water or submerging the electronics, though!
What makes a Synch electric bike different?
Synch bikes are designed and built in the UK with fat tyres, utility frames, and standout style. Unlike many imported e bicycles or ebikes, we offer full local support, spares, and service. Customise your ride, choose your finish, and roll knowing we’ve got your back from first ride to long haul.
Can I customise my Synch e bicycle?
100%. Every electric bike we sell includes options for colour, rack, accessories and more. Want something special? We offer custom jobs and even brand collabs. Whether it’s your first e bike bicycle or your fifth, you’ll be riding something that feels personal and properly built.
How far can your electric bikes go?
Range depends on the rider, terrain, and settings - but most Synch electric bikes get between 30-50 miles per charge. Our e bikes are built for daily commutes, weekend runs, and longer urban rides. Want to go further? We offer battery upgrade options too.
Do your bikes come with warranty and aftercare?
Yep. Every Synch bike electric bike includes proper UK warranty and real aftercare. No waiting weeks for parts from overseas - our support team’s based right here, and we build each e bicycle to last. If something goes wrong, we sort it fast.
Do you offer cargo or utility electric bikes?
We do. Our fat tyre cargo bikes and utility electric bikes are ideal for family rides, gear hauling, or daily errands. With solid frames and smart design, each e bicycle handles heavy loads and urban streets like a pro. It’s an e bike that actually works hard - and still looks good.
What’s the charging time for a Synch e bike?
All Synch e bikes use a fast-charge system - you’ll go from flat to full in around five hours. Whether it’s a daily commute or a weekend cruise, your electric bicycle is ready when you are. Plus, our batteries are removable and easy to plug in at home or work.
Do Synch electric bikes come assembled?
Yes. Every Synch electric bike arrives mostly assembled - no faff, no guesswork. We do the heavy lifting here in the UK before shipping. You’ll just need to attach a couple of parts like the handlebars and pedals, and you’re good to go. Each ebike includes a simple setup guide too.
